M20 between junction 10 and 11 closed due to car fire and separate crash

A stretch of the M20 was temporarily closed last night due to a car fire and a separate crash.

Fire crews were called to a Vauxhall Insignia blaze at 10.45pm, about a mile from the junction 10 slip-road.

The cause is not yet known, but is thought to be mechanical, the fire service has confirmed.

The driver had managed to get out of the car in time, but an earlier crash, further down the M20 forced the police to close a section of the motorway with a rolling road block in place.

Firefighters left after 45 minutes.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 10.08pm to a report of a single vehicle collision between junctions 10 and 11 on the M20.

"Officers attended the scene.

"No injuries have been reported."
