Folkestone Coastguard search for mysterious object ‘fallen from the sky’

Members of the Coastguard have been left baffled following reports of an object that had fallen out of the sky.

The Folkestone coastguard was seen combing the coast in the area after receiving reports of a strange coloured object that had potentially fallen into the water yesterday.

A spokesman said: “We were paged at around 11.58am yesterday to a report of a black, red or orange object that had possibly fallen from the sky into the sea, and which was visible heading east.

“There was nothing found at the initial scene, but further sightings came in further east past Sandgate and then at Mermaid beach”.

The team moved their search and called in the aid of the lifeboat team from Littlestone while searching the rock groyne at Mermaid Beach.

With still nothing found, the search team then relocated to The Warren after receiving another possible sighting.

“That turned out to be an old broken up buoy from a while ago,” the spokesman continued, “we were then alerted to some clothes which we investigated and cleared.

“We also reported another washed up buoy.

“With no further reports of the initial object, we stood down and returned to the station.”
