Cyclist dies after air ambulance called to street in Folkestone

A cyclist has died after collapsing on a busy street, police have said.

A huge emergency services response was called to a junction in Folkestone on Saturday evening.

The air ambulance was scrambled alongside ground crews and police officers, to the corner of Shepway Close and Dawson Road at about 8.30pm.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing paramedics attempting CPR to save the man when they drove past.

The air ambulance landed in a nearby field.

A police spokesman said today: “Police assisted South East Coast Ambulance Service at the scene of a medical incident in Dawson Road, Folkestone following a call at 8.25pm on Saturday 24 June 2023.

A man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious.”
