Eurotunnel service at Folkestone is suspended due to power supply issue

Eurotunnel passengers experienced delays this afternoon due to power issues.

The problem affected the Folkestone terminal and resulted in all departures being suspended for around 90 minutes.

Staff at the tunnel gave water and food to waiting customers during the disruption.

One traveller asked the shuttle company on Twitter: "Are departures suspended from France and UK?"

Another said: "Can you update us, we've been waiting on the train to depart for an hour with no news."

The firm replied: "Bonjour, we're experiencing a power supply issue on our Folkestone Terminal.

"All the departures are suspended for the moment. Sorry for that."

The service has now resumed.

A spokesman for Eurotunnel said: "Eurotunnel confirms that following a power supply problem on the Folkestone terminal, traffic on both terminals was disrupted for 90 minutes.

"No trains were present in Tunnel during this period and our staff have been doing their utmost to take care of customers on both terminals by distributing water and food.

"Our technicians have now resolved the issue and traffic has now resumed."
