Parking warden handed out 12 parking tickets at Folkestone Invicta FC game against Enfield

Parking wardens slapped 12 motorists with fines on Saturday as football fans filled a sports ground car park.

Folkestone Invicta FC won 2-0 to Enfield at the Fullicks Stadium in Cheriton Road.

The stadium, which only has a limited amount of spaces, usually sees other fans use the car park at the Three Hills Sports Park next door.

Home games at the ground usually attract hundreds of supporters.

But it wasn't until people began returning to their vehicles after the match that they found the bright yellow tickets on their windscreens.

One Folkestone Invicta supporter said he saw people rip them off their cars in anger.

The car park is run by Shepway District Council, who confirmed that a warden had rightfully booked people on the day.

Cllr Malcolm Dearden, cabinet member for transport said: “There are 70 marked car parking bays at Three Hills Sports Grounds.

"Parking on the area leading to the centre is not allowed, this is so delivery and emergency vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians can get safely to the centre.

“The parking restrictions are made very clear on signs at the entrance to the car park.

"On Saturday 12 penalty charge notices were issued to vehicles that were parked illegally.

"If you park your car illegally, you must be prepared to get a parking ticket.”
