Kate Busy Day returns as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever 2023 takes place on Folkestone Harbour Arm

After a four-year break Kate Bush Day is returning to Kent tomorrow on the singer’s 65th birthday.

Billed as “The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever” the event at the Folkestone Harbour Arm will see hundreds of the iconic singer’s fans don their red dresses and black wigs to recreate the famous Wuthering Heights video.

This is the third time the event has taken place after proving a huge success in 2018 and 2019, before Covid put a stop to the annual pilgrimage to honour the Bexleyheath-born songstress.

The event will start with a free mass warm up in The Goods Yard in two sessions from 9.30am.

While the warm-up is fully booked, visiting ‘Kate’s’ can still take part in the main event which will take place at 11am on The Harbour Arm, under the Folkestone sign between The Lighthouse Champagne Bar and The Tasting Rooms, and is open to anyone wearing red.

After the dance, music will be provided by the KT Band, a tribute band including members of Kate Bush’s original touring band.

Of this year's event, organisers said: "We're delighted to be able to announce that, after four years of hibernation, The Most Wuthering Heights Day ever will return."

Wuthering Heights was the singer’s debut single and is celebrating it’s 45th anniversar this year.

It remains one of her top two biggest hits, along with Running Up That Hill, which made a return to the top of the charts last year, 37 years after its first release, thanks to its appearance on hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever started in 2013 with Shambush! in Brighton, which attempted to set a world record for the highest number of people dressed as Kate Bush in one place.

Events are now held around the world including in Adelaide, Perth, Northern Rivers, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Montreal, Atlanta, Berlin, Uppsala, Wellington, Hobart, Amsterdam and Dublin.

When Folkestone joined in the fun in 2018, it was the first town - rather than city - to take part.
