Trains delayed after fire near Folkestone Central station

Passengers using Folkestone Central station are being warned of delays after an earlier fire.

Fire crews rushed to the scene earlier this morning after reports of a line side fire near the station.

Although the fire has now been put out, it has caused a power supply problem.

A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 7.16 am to reports of a fire close to the railway line and one fire engine attended.

"Network Rail also attended and the incident was closed at 8.15 am."

Network Rail engineers have now arrived on site to begin repairs to the power supply, although it is not yet clear how long this will take.

Replacement buses are now on their way to Ashford, Dover and Ramsgate.
