Two men who blocked entrance to Folkestone cannabis farm with furniture and tried to flee site jailed

Two men who tried to the block the entrance to their basement cannabis farm with furniture have been jailed.

Mikel Buzi, 27, and Asllan Cenaj, 31, attempted to flee the building in Trinity Road in Folkestone when their 500 plant cultivation was uncovered by police using a warrant, on June 30 this year.

But they were stopped and arrested with the assistance of a police dog and have now been handed prison sentences.

Appearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday, both men, of no fixed abode, admitted producing the class B drug.

They were growing around 250 mature plants and 250 young plants, and the site also contained fertiliser, heat lamps and ventilation ducts.

In interview, Cenaj told officers he was being paid to tend the site, while Buzi said he was working there to pay off a debt.

Buzi was jailed for two years and three months and Cenaj received a two-year sentence.

Investigating officer PC Harry Russell said: "Kent Police is determined to keep drug dealing networks out of the county and disrupt and shut down any activity we hear of.

"I am pleased this operation has prevented a criminal group from profiting from this site and I urge anyone who thinks drugs may be being produced or dealt in their area to contact us on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress, or through our website."
