Pet dog dies in flat fire in Guildhall Street, Folkestone

A pet dog died in a blaze at a flat which is being investigated by fire officers.

Crews rushed to Guildhall Street in Folkestone just after 2.30pm.

They tackled a fire in the unoccupied basement flat of a four-storey building, but found the dog trapped inside had died.

There were no other casualties.

Crews say the cause is not yet known and an investigation will take place.

They left the scene about an hour later at 3.30pm.

It was the second time in a matter of hours that emergency services had been called to Guildhall Street.

At about 7pm on Friday, police were alerted to an alleged stabbing in the road.
