Dover Road in Folkestone closed between St Michael’s Street and Charlotte Street

Police closed off part of a town amid concerns for the well-being of a man who had reportedly climbed onto a roof.

Reports from Folkestone say officers arrived around 8pm and shut Dover Road between St Michael’s Street and Charlotte Street.

A nearby resident told KentOnline that she believed there were worries for a local man who has mental health difficulties.

She understood he was on the roof of a property with the emergency services trying to get him down.

A police spokesman said the force was called to reports of a disturbance at a property.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and further inquiries found he was wanted concerning an outstanding court warrant.

Traffic in the area was said to be heavy while the road was blocked.

The incident was over by 9.30pm and the road reopened.
