Officers appeal to Land Rover owners to be extra careful after a vehicle was taken from Grimston Avenue in Folkestone

Police are urging Land Rover owners to be on the look out following two suspicious incidents in Folkestone.

A green K-reg Land Rover that was parked in Grimston Avenue was taken between 7pm and 8pm last Wednesday.

The following day at 8.05pm two people were seen trying to start the engine of a different Land Rover parked in Julian Road.

The pair however ran off in the direction of Cheriton Road after they were disturbed by the vehicle’s owner.

Police, who are investigating both incidents, have now released safety advice to owners to help them reduce the risk of being targeted.

This includes parking vehicles in garages, driveways or in well lit areas when possible, fitting an alarm or lock to garages and making a note of the chassis number (vehicle identification number).

Last month, a blue Land Rover Defender 90 was stolen from Ashford which belonged to a volunteer member of the South East 4x4 Response and rescue team.
