There are severe delays on the A20 between Folkestone and Dover during the implementation of Dover TAP.
The holdups today, Good Friday, are coastbound between the M20 Junction 13 at Folkestone and the A2 Jubilee Way at Dover Eastern Docks.
Dover TAP (Traffic Assessment Phase) is in force, meaning that lorries heading to the Port of Dover has to use lane one. All other traffic has use lane two.
There are major delays in both lanes because of congestion at the Port of Dover added to by extra security checks.
TAP, which has been used since last April, is to control the flow of lorries coming into the Port of Dover to stop the town’s central Townwall Street being congested.
Port-bound traffic is controlled by traffic lights at the foot of the Western Heights roundabout but there is also a 40mph speed limit from the coastbound Roundhill Tunnel in Folkestone to that roundabout.
