Densole burglaries: Kent Police warn residents after two houses were broken in to

Villagers are being advised about keeping their possessions safe from thieves after a spate of burglaries.

Police are investigating two break-ins in Densole, near Folkestone, in the past couple of weeks.

Officers have reminded residents to protect their belongings.

Cash, bank cards and a collection of valuable coins were stolen from one of the burglaries.

Both incidents saw the thieves force open windows to gain entry into the homes.

The first incident took place between 4am on August 20 and 9am on August 27.

The second is believed to have taken place between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Saturday, September 10.

Det Sgt Stephanie Devon said: "Whilst we are treating these burglaries as isolated cases, I would like remind people how they can protect their homes.

"Most burglaries happen on weekdays, in daylight, when you're more likely to be out."

Further advice the police have issued includes:

  • keep keys, cash and expensive items out of view
  • use timer switches on lights and radios to make your home look occupied
  • keep gates locked and boundaries secure
  • lock away bikes, tools and garden items which could be stolen or used to break into your home.
