It's not the first time the church has been targetted.

Burglars raided the church in the Bayle by breaking a window and snatching money from the donations box in October 2017.

In addition, a woman in her 60s was attacked in an attempted street robbery inside the grounds of the 12th century church the month before.

Operation Castle, the force’s annual burglary prevention campaign, was launched at the end of last month to raise awareness about home security and encourage the public to take extra measures to protect their property over the winter months.
