Teenager reportedly sexually assaulted in Folkestone's Garden of Remembrance

A teenager has been arrested after a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in a public garden.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 16 year old is said to have been attacked in the Garden of Remembrance on Sandgate Road in Folkestone.

The attack, described as a serious sexual assault by officers, reportedly happened between 12.15am and 1.03am on Saturday.

A 19-year-old man from Margate has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The suspect is described as being of medium height, of a muscular build with short, dark hair.

He was wearing a coat with badges on, and is believed to have been travelling in a silver four door saloon car.

Officers believe the victim had spoken to the suspect earlier in the evening.

The arrested teen has been bailed until Sunday, October 28 while inquiries continue.

Police investigating want to hear from any witnesses in the area at the time and recognise the description of the suspect or the car.
