Police investigate criminal damage at Paydens Pharmacy in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone

A vandal hurled a wheelie bin at a pharmacy's front window, smashing it into pieces.

Police are now investigating the alleged criminal damage, which happened at Paydens in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, in the early hours of Saturday.

As well as breaking the glass, litter was also thrown around in the street.

A manager at the chemist, who did not want to be named, said: "It was during the night. It looks like someone has used a wheelie bin to bash it in.

"No one gained entry to the property, but rubbish was also chucked around the street.

"The police were here quickly.

"We could do with a bit more CCTV in the high street. There have been a few incidents lately."

The smashed window has now been boarded up.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called at 4.24am on Saturday, January 28 to report that the window of a shop in Cheriton High Street had been smashed by an unknown person.

"Officers attended and carried out an area search but no suspect was located.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
