Kenneth Boswell, from Faversham, jailed for armed burglary in Folkestone

A Folkestone man has revealed how he stared down the barrel of a gun after being confronted by burglars.

Two men burst into the home in Beachborough Road looking for cannabis and cash.

But a judge heard how the victim - who at first thought it was a prank - came face to face with the armed thugs, one wearing a balaclava.

Hooded robber Kenneth Boswell held the decommissioned weapon to the head of his terrified victim demanding money.

And when that didn’t work, he took a Rambo-style knife from an accomplice and made stabbing motions towards the man who was with a friend.

Bizarrely, after escaping with money and jewellery, Boswell, 27, of Love Lane, Faversham was went to the police station and handed himself in.

The father-of-two told the judge he wanted to change and end his drugs-dominated lifestyle.

"The victim would say later that he was literally looking down the barrel of a gun" - Simon Taylor, prosecuting

He then confessed to being the robber, and even rejected the chance of having a lawyer represent him.

Now a judge has jailed him for SEVEN years after he admitted aggravated burglary, possessing the gun and knife.

The judge told him had he not confessed and had been convicted at trial, he would have faced a 12 year term.

Prosecutor Simon Taylor told Canterbury Crown Court how the incident happened on December 12 last year.

“At 4.30 he heard people walking upstairs and saw two men at the top of the stairs and heard the defendant say to his accomplice: ‘Give me the gun’.

“He ran back into the bedroom but was followed there and then the victim realised that this was no prank or joke.”

Mr Taylor added that Boswell began swearing and ordered the man to lie on the floor before placing the gun at his victim’s forehead and face.

“The victim would say later that he was literally looking down the barrel of a gun," he added.

Boswell then said he wasn’t going to shoot his victim, but stab him, and was then given a six-inch hunting knife.

“He crouched down and poked him in the arm three times. He said they were forceful but fortunately did not cause him injury. He then made stabbing motions towards his face as the victims curled into a ball.”

During the 10-minute ordeal, Boswell then made a frantic search of the bedroom before taking £200 from a wallet and kicking his victim three to four times.

He then demanded: “Where are the watches? I am told you have a couple of nice watches” only to be told his victim didn’t own one.

Boswell then left telling his accomplice: “I told you it would be easy”.

After his arrest the robber said he was told the house contained cannabis and £2,000 under a bed and he had made a journey by car days earlier when the house was pointed out to him.

The judge, Recorder Stuart Trimmer QC told him that had he not handed himself in “the chances of you being detected were slim”.
