A collision outside a cafe in Folkestone yesterday has left a man fighting for his life.
The man, in his 40s and from the Folkestone area, was reportedly sitting on tables and chairs outside the Captain's Table cafe, on The Stade, when the crash happened at 10.53am.
He was flown to St George's Hospital in London with what police have this morning described as life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the silver Peugeot car involved in the crash was not injured.
Yesterday, a worker at a nearby business said: "We saw him lying on the floor. His family were standing around him crying. It was horrible."
The road, by the junction of East Street, was closed for three hours while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit examined the area.
Families enjoying the sunshine on the beach were asked to move so the air ambulance could land.
