Back-to-back Saturday defeats against Leatherhead and Chipstead have left Cugley wondering whether his squad is tough enough to clinch promotion.

And their run-in will either make or break them.

Folkestone have still got to play three of their promotion rivals – Hastings, Merstham and Guernsey – while their other two games are against sides battling to stay in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Cugley said: "We’ve got quite a hard run-in. They’re all going to be tough games.

"We’ve got to show what we’re about. Are we mentally strong enough? The players have got to stand up and be counted.

"When you get into the play-offs, you’ve got to have something about you to stay up there."

Folkestone's 3-0 win at Walton & Hersham on Tuesday night kept them third and gave them a three-point cushion over the teams just below them.

Cugley's side are are at home to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday, kick-off 3.07pm.
