Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley accepts why Isthmian Premier League match against Hornchurch has been postponed

Folkestone boss Neil Cugley says he understands why tonight's scheduled game against Hornchurch has been postponed.

The Isthmian Premier clash is one of several league games involving Kent clubs which were due to be played this week that have been postponed as the fuel situation worsens.

Margate were meant to host East Thurrock but that match has also been called off, along with Faversham v Hythe, Herne Bay v Ramsgate, Sittingbourne v Whitstable and Hastings v Ashford in Isthmian South East with all matches in that division now off.

The news comes after the Isthmian League contacted clubs on Sunday and offered them the chance to postpone their midweek fixtures, with Hornchurch saying both sides had agreed to the cancellation in their club statement.

Cugley hopes the situation will improve before their FA Cup third qualifying round tie against Gloucester City this Saturday.

"I can understand it (the postponement)," said long-serving Folkestone manager Cugley. "I think the league has acted quickly to be fair.

"They acted over the weekend, rather than waiting another day or two.

"That gives us a bit of time to prepare for the weekend. At least we know near enough what our squad is going to be now for then."

Invicta's next opponents, Gloucester, sacked manager Paul Groves following their 3-0 defeat at Gateshead last weekend.

Ex-Bristol Rovers midfielder Lee Mansell has been placed in interim charge.
