Much travelled Munday joins Folkestone

FOLKESTONE Invicta have signed Mark Munday from Margate as they prepare for life in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division.

Munday, 32, was captain at Margate when they won the Dr Martens League Premier Division championship in 2000-01, and when they finished as runners-up in the Southern Division during 1998-99.

He had a spell on loan at Dover Athletic towards the end of last season after playing for Margate in the Conference.

Dover-born Munday started his career at Margate before moving to Herne Bay, where he scored a lot of goals from midfield. He moved on to Ashford Town and Gravesend and Northfleet before re-joining Margate in July 1997. Something of a free kick specialist, he has also had a spell with Ramsgate.

He was part of the Gravesend side which played at Aston Villa in the FA Cup during the 1995-96 season. And he scored the opening goal for Margate when they played at home to Fulham in the first round of the 1997-98 FA Cup.

Munday's brother John played for Invicta during the 1995-96 season.
