The prospect of further financial reward and the sight of bigger teams on the horizon is all the incentive Hythe Town need this weekend.

The fact that Saturday’s FA Trophy second qualifying round fixture is against local rivals Whitstable is an added bonus for manager Scott Porter’s in-form side.

Hythe are two wins away from a place in the first round proper of the Trophy and one win away from scooping £3,250 in prize money.

None of that is lost on Porter, whose side welcome Whitstable to Reachfields.

He said: “It’s a big game for us and the money is a massive incentive to the football club.

“Sometimes you need to rely on that extra money. It’s also a local derby and we are on a good run which we hope to keep going.

“We know bigger clubs await in the next round and hopefully we can come out on top.”
