Aldi joins the likes of Lidl and Morrisons by introducing InPost lockers at Gravesend store

Aldi is trialing a new scheme at one of its Kent branches to make shopping “more convenient” for customers.

The German discount chain will be introducing the use of InPost parcel lockers outside its store in London Road, Gravesend.

Post lockers allow customers to collect and return online orders from other retailers and can be found outside other supermarkets like Lidl and Morrisons.

It is also a popular postage method used by second-hand online marketplace Vinted.

Eagle-eyed shoppers would have seen the white lockers appear outside the front of the Gravesend supermarket a few weeks ago.

However, Aldi has said it will now be available for customers to use throughout this month.

Communications director at Aldi UK, Richard Thornton, said: “We are all about making things efficient for our customers and the installation of InPost lockers will make shopping at Aldi even more convenient for the people of Kent.

“Customers can collect or return parcels while they are doing their shopping, with the lockers accessible with a QR-code. If successful, this will hopefully be something available to lots more of our shoppers later this year.”

The trial, at 22 stores across the country, will finish after 12 weeks and if successful will be rolled out to other branches.
