Northfleet thieves caught on camera smashing garage door and stealing family's motorcycles

This is the moment two men smashed their way into a family garage and stole a father and son's motorcycles.

At around 3.30pm yesterday in Ladyfields, Northfleet, CCTV footage caught the pair rip open the door before running off with an adult-size bike and a smaller one for a nine-year-old.

Sintija Davis, whose husband and son's bikes were stolen, revealed her son, Christian, was left in tears after finding out.

"I feel very disgusted by it all," she said.

"How can someone do something like this? We have suffered largely financially. We don’t feel safe in our own home anymore."

The theft, which happened near Sheers Green School, took place at school pick-up time and people could be seen walking past the incident and ignoring it.

Mrs Davis added: "These people have no morals or conscience. It took them less than a minute to do it. My neighbour was in his garage and people were on the street - they just simply did not care."

The mother-of-two said the bikes cost between £7,000 to £8,000 and thinks the pair had been scouting out the house beforehand and knew the bikes were inside as it took them under a minute to get in and out.

She was also told a black Mercedes was seen driving through Istead Rise towards Longfield about an hour after the incident with a small motorcycle hanging out the back of its boot.

Police spokesman Martin Very said: "Officers are investigating a burglary at a private garage on Ladyfields, Northfleet at around 3.30pm on December 2 where it is reported a KTM 250 motorcycle and a KTM motorcycle were stolen."

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call Kent Police on 01474 366149, quoting crime reference 46/230424/19.
