A man charged with a child grooming offence has been locked up while he awaits a crown court hearing.

Mark McKenna, 38, of High Street, Northfleet, appeared before Medway magistrates, charged with arranging the commission of a child sex offence.

He was stopped by police in Bluewater on Saturday, after being confronted by a vigilante group.

The Hunted One describes itself as: “A secret organisation of dedicated parents, pro-actively seeking out to expose online groomers, sexual predators and paedophiles.”

The members claim the arrest came after they became involved.

McKenna, who is currently in custody, is to appear next at Maidstone Crown Court on September 9.
