Fire crews have tackled a blaze at a town centre shopping centre this evening.

The fire broke out in the delivery car park of the St George's Centre in New Road, Gravesend. It was inside equipment used by a maintenance team working there.

Three fire engines arrived at about 5.30pm with two from Thames-side and one from Dartford.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.

Dartford station manager Steve Dunn said: "The fire was to the side of the top level delivery car park where the control centre is.

"The company is going to check on it every half hour to make sure nothing like it happens again."
