Council stumps cricket club over new pavilion

A cricket club has been left stumped after council chiefs turned down their plans for a new pavilion.

Gravesend Cricket Club submitted proposals to demolish the existing pavilion at the Bat and Ball Ground in Wrotham Road and build a new one.

But Gravesham council's planning comittee rejected the plans last night after concerns about parking and the height of the building.

Speaking against the proposals, Bridget Widdinson, of Essex Road, said: "I'm delighted the council has stopped these plans. It would have been like having a block of flats in your own back garden."
