Body by Asda, Gravesend: Homeless woman's death not suspicious

After more than a week police have now confirmed the death of a suspected rough sleeper is not being treated as suspicious.

A body, now confirmed as that of a woman, was discovered in a wooded area off Thames Way, Gravesend, just after 4pm on Sunday, April 22.

Last week KentOnline's sister paper the Gravesend Messenger reported how 25-year-old Kieran Reeves spotted an arm coming out of a blue sleeping bag as he walked home from work.

He said it was apparent the body had been there for some time.

Police finally left the scene, just yards from Asda, on Friday.

For five days police tape and forensics tents had blocked off the walk way off Thames Way next to where the woman was found.

Spokesman Jordan Bluer today confirmed: "Following the result of a post-mortem the death has been deemed non-suspicious. Officers continue to carry out enquiries to establish the identity of the woman and are in the process of preparing a report for the coroner."
