Gravesham Community Awards 2021 open for nominations

Nominations are now open to find the borough's unsung heroes who have helped others through one of the toughest years imaginable.

The annual Gravesham Community Awards, run by Gravesham Borough Council and supported by the Messenger, is an opportunity to formally show the appreciation of the borough to the many individuals and groups who give their time selflessly and freely to make Gravesham a great place to live, work and visit.

Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, Gravesham council’s cabinet member for community and leisure, said: “The past 12 months have been extraordinary and our annual Community Awards will be slightly different this year.

“They will recognise the amazing efforts of our people and communities over the past 12 months to support and care for those around them, honouring those who are often our unsung heroes.

“We are really keen to receive nominations for people and organisations who haven’t featured in our previous awards – those who have really come to the fore during the pandemic.”

Last year's awards honoured many who had helped others at the start of the pandemic.

If you know of an individual, a local group, business, or even a whole street that has gone the extra mile and made a difference, you can nominate them using this link at www.gravesham.gov.uk/communityawards where you will find the full criteria and process for nomination.

Nominations close on Friday, June 25 with the awards to be presented at The Woodville in September.
