Drugs and thousands in cash seized in police operation

A week-long drugs operation in North Kent led to 16 arrests and thousands of pounds of cash and drugs seized.

In just five days officers from specialist teams raided 12 houses in Dartford and Gravesham as part of a National Drugs Awareness Week.

The operation, which was carried out from Monday to Friday last week, saw police officers seize £7,200 in cash and drugs with a street value of more than £13,745.

Among the drugs found were suspected ecstasy tablets, herbal cannabis, cocaine and heroine.

One man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images.

Chief inspector Phil Painter, who heads up the drugs team, said: "This national crackdown on drugs is a great opportunity for us to put an even greater focus and extra resources into targeting those who deal drugs and those who commit crime to feed a habit."
