Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish believes his side’s togetherness is playing a key role in keeping them clear of the Blue Square Premier drop zone.

Fleet have won four of their last five games and Saturday’s impressive 1-0 victory over high-flying York put them seven points clear of the relegation places.

Daish’s side make the long trip north on Saturday to face a Gateshead side who, like themselves, are battling at the wrong end of the table.

The Fleet boss said: “One thing I’ve noticed is that there is a real togetherness in the squad and the spirit is good.

“We’ve had some tough days and tough weeks throughout the season but they’ve kept strong mentally, kept their focus and kept believing.

“We’ve work to do but we’re doing as much as we can and we’re looking forward to every game.

“Our form is pretty good and we’re hanging in there. The players are fighting for each other and the club.

“Gateshead are another good team and it will be tough up there and they have the experience of Daryl Clare who can score goals.

“We’ll move on from Saturday’s result now. I’m not one for talking about six pointers as it’s changing week by week. We’ll just concentrate on getting three.”
