Firefighters called to twin fires near Meopham country park

Firefighters were called to two separate incidents close to Camer country park, Gravesend yesterday in a busy evening for the emergency services crew.

A fire engine attended Batts road, Gravesend at 4:54pm yesterday where two hay bales had caught alight at the side of the road.

Crews used a hose and high pressure jet to douse the fire on the narrow country lane which officially ended at 5:14pm.

Under an hour later the fire service crew was called out to a bush fire in Camer park road, Meopham at 6pm.

A fire engine arrived at the scene at 6:05pm.

Crews again used a high pressure water jet to put out the fire which lasted until 6:30pm.

The cause of both fires is not yet known.
