First houses built at former Northfleet Cement works go on sale

The first set of homes built on the grounds of a former cement works are due to go on sale next month.

Building work of the Harbour Village scheme in Northfleet began last October which, when complete, will provide around 500 new homes on the disused brownfield site.

Property developers Bellway London were granted permission for the project in 2018 with the first phase of 121 homes approved last January.

The new village will be part of the wider Ebbsfleet Garden City project, which is expected to create around 15,000 homes along with shops, commercial and office space, parks and public open space.

The housing developer has said it will be opening a sales office on-site on February 4 as the first set of properties are put on the market.

Sales director Emma Hamlett, said: “There has already been a great deal of interest in the homes at Harbour Village and we expect this demand to grow once the site is launched.

"All of the houses will have gardens and the apartments for sale will feature a terrace or balcony, with some properties offering a direct view of the river."

Plans include a new community centre, retail, commercial and employment space and an extension to the Fastrack bus route through the 76-acre site.

The development will also feature a new playing field, parks and a riverside walkway.

Ms Hamlett added: “Bellway London is proud to be playing a key role in the ambitious wider Ebbsfleet Garden City project which will see the transformation of a huge swathe of disused land along the south bank of the River Thames into vibrant new neighbourhoods with around 15,000 new homes and millions of pounds of investment in local infrastructure."
