The lives, landscapes and histories of the Thames Estuary will be celebrated in an arts festival.

Gravesham Estuary Fringe Festival runs across the Gravesend area and online from June 4 to 12, as part of the Estuary 2021 large-scale arts event taking place in the South East.

The 10-day programme will feature comedy, rap, poetry, musical theatre, multiple exhibitions by local artists and the daily Fringe TV broadcasts from Studio (Café) No84.

Festival organisers, in partnership with Gravesham Arts Salon, have encouraged artists and creatives across all genres throughout the borough to take part and welcomed work which responded to the current situation in a sustainable and creative way so the arts can continue despite the restrictions of the pandemic.

Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, Gravesham's cabinet member for community and leisure, said: “During this time of uncertaintity the wonderful creatives of Gravesham have still managed to create beautiful entertainment in the form of the arts for us to enjoy.

"With a new arts centre opening at the St George’s Centre and some amazing artists sharing their skills in the borough, I am looking forward to seeing more and more fantastic, beautiful art and performances, not only during the 10 days of the festival but for the foreseeable future as well.”

The schedule includes a daily live stream by poet James McKay, a Batik workshop with Liz Bylett in Fort Gardens, live music from Sonny and The Harp, an art and photography exhibition by local residents, an online murder mystery and a sculpture workshop with Lydia Brockless.
