A little boy who spent two years growing his hair to be like his football idol Marouane Fellaini is to face the shearers to raise money for the Stacey Mowle Appeal.

Max Graham, 10, is, like Stacey, a pupil at Shears Green Junior School in Northfleet and heard about the appeal for the seven-year-old who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in May 2010.

She needs specialist treatment which isn’t available in the UK and may cost up to £500,000.

Max, who has been playing for Northfleet Eagles since 2009, said: “I’ve been growing my hair for nearly two years but I am going to cut it off to raise money for Stacey Mowle.

“Stacey is my friend’s little sister. I would like to raise at least £500, so if people could help me by sponsoring me that would be really great.”

Stacey’s parents, Eagles manager Warren and Samantha, joined Families Against Neuroblastoma to launch the Stacey Mowle Appeal which has seen fundraisers from every part of Gravesend.

Max will be getting his hair cut next weekend.

Pupils and teachers at Shears Green Infant and Junior Schools raised more than £2,600 for the appeal with a non-uniform day, raffle and cake sale.

Volunteers will raise awareness of Stacey’s appeal in the town centre on Saturday.

Volunteers will be in New Road from 10.30am.
