Gravesend couldn’t make home advantage count after a 53-24 defeat to Ampthill in London 3 South East.
The hosts conceded an early try and, despite Scott Curley’s penalty reducing the arrears, were always chasing the game as they ended the first half 27-10 behind.
Sox Stevens’ touchdown and Gary Gray’s conversion made up their tally.
Second-half tries by Stevens and Tom Goss were no more than consolations after Ampthill added 26 more points.
Gray ended the match with six points after three conversions.
