Ebbsfleet conceded three goals in the first 13 minutes to leave themselves with too much to do at Grimsby on Saturday.

The Fleet got it back to 3-2 and then 4-3 but time ran out on them during their first-ever visit to Blundell Park.

Liam Hearn gave Grimsby a second-minute lead when he latched on to a poor back pass to score.

Will Antwi's header doubled the lead on 11 minutes before Hearn stuck again to make it 3-0.

Liam Daish's side showed great character to get themselves back into the game before the half-hour.

Nathaniel Pinney scored on 25 minutes when keeper McKeown's clearance hit him and went in before Yado Mambo headed in a corner three minutes later to make it 3-2.

Michael Coulson put Grimsby 4-2 ahead four minutes into the second half.

Calum Willock had a penalty appeal turned down and although substitute Ricky Shakes pulled one back in the first minute of stoppage time, the Fleet were unable to snatch a dramatic winner.
