Wife of firefighter Jim Moyle, from Kemsing, gives heartbreaking statements as Konrad Bartoszewski walks free after Farningham death crash

The widow of a firefighter killed in a motorcycle crash has spoken of the devastating impact of his death on her and their two daughters.

Members of his family wept outside court after Bartoszewski, of Ladds Way, Swanley, avoided jail.

Mr Moyle's wife, Kate, said in her victim statement: "Where and how do I begin to write down the impact of losing my darling husband James, father of our two beautiful daughters?

"Jim was my soulmate and my rock for 28 years. He was a fun-loving man who was proud of his family."

Mrs Moyle said her husband's death was devastating.

"The ripples of this tragedy spread far and wide," she continued. "He was a big part of our community, attending local groups and primary school on his days off to talk to children about his role in the fire service.

"James was the best person I had ever met. He worked hard and was a good friend and neighbour. He had a great sense of humour, always playing pranks on work colleagues.

"Since his death myself and my daughters have suffered."

The tragedy happened on their daughter Bethany’s 10th birthday. She never wanted to celebrate her birthday again.

Mrs Moyle, who runs a pre-school, said she was with her husband in hospital when he was taken into the operating theatre.

"I told him I loved him and would be waiting for him," she said.

Mrs Moyle added: "We think about him every day all day. The realisation this amazing man will not be in our lives again is intolerable.

"My life is now so lonely. Our dreams are shattered – a life taken away so cruelly and stupidly. I go to bed heart- broken every night and I wake up heartbroken."

Polish-born Bartoszewski, 26, of Ladds Way, Swanley, was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for two years at the sentencing hearing.
