Firefighters were called after a lightning strike set fire to a garage in Meopham this morning.

Crews were called to the scene in Meadow Lane at 5.50am, and arrived to find the garage well alight with flames spreading to nearby trees.

Three fire engines attended and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a main jet, hose reel jet, compressed air foam and water from a nearby hydrant to extinguish the blaze and prevent the fire spreading.

No casualties were reported.
