Gravesend City Praise Centre, Churches Together in Gravesham and others deliver 150 meals a day since Covid-19 lockdown

Volunteers have been packing more than 155 lunches a day to deliver to those in need.

Members of Gravesend's City Praise Centre, Churches Together in Gravesham and the community made and delivered the meals every other day to vulnerable families and those in sheltered accommodation.

Spokesman Surbs Mahey said: "We have been overwhelmed by the love and support from our donations which has greatly blessed our community.

"The residents have showered us with thank you cards to say how lovely it is that we care.

"Our volunteer drivers have made some real connections with the residents, some of whom do not get many – if at all any – visits and have added ‘we look forward to our lunches and a chat’.

"The lunches started in April and are ongoing. The lunches team is honoured to be serving in our community and making a difference. Together we are stronger."
