Man charged after windows smashed in Gravesend

A man is facing nine criminal damage charges after the windows of numerous Gravesend businesses were vandalised.

Wail Hamid is alleged to have damaged windows belonging to eight shops, and one belonging to a pub during the early hours of Tuesday, September 8.

The offences are reported to have taken place in New Road, Milton Road, Kempthorne Street and King Street.

The 19-year-old, of Perry Street, Northfleet, has been remanded in custody, and was due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

At the hearing, he was further remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, October 7.
