Ebbsfleet slipped to a second defeat in five days and lost goalkeeper Preston Edwards to injury on a disappointing afternoon in Mansfield.

Beaten 4-2 by Cambridge in midweek, the Fleet went behind to a 15th-minute goal from Ben Hutchinson at the One Call Stadium.

Liam Enver-Marum (pictured) restored parity with a long-range strike but the Stags were back in front when a shot deflected off Craig Stone.

The visitors were dealt a fresh blow early in the second half when Edwards had to be replaced by reserve keeper Lucas Menz after suffering a pulled muscle near his ribs.

Mansfield made it 3-1 when Anthony Howell beat Menz on 70 minutes and when Phil Walsh fouled Hutchinson, Matt Green scored from the penalty spot.

Liam Daish’s side are now 22nd in Blue Square Bet Premier, two points from safety.
