THE DAUGHTER of a pensioner killed in a road accident will continue to campaign for speed cameras following an inquest into his death.
Tom Hole died of chest injuries after he was hit by a car just yards from his home in South Street, Meopham, on the A227, which he shared with daughter Pam Cleggett, 69, and her husband Ray.
Dartford Crown Court heard how the 96-year-old collided with the passenger side of Nicola Marsh’s car when he stepped into the road on August 14 last year.
Speaking after the inquest which recorded a verdict of accidental death Mrs Cleggett said: “I don’t like going out of the drive every morning because I always see his face. But that is something time will heal. I know his death was an accident but I still want to see speed cameras along the road to make it safer.”
A memorable bench for Tom is now situated in Willow Walk, which was bought with money raised by local residents.
