Detective Constable Robin Hemsley, investigating officer at Kent Police, said: “We appreciate that this incident happened some time ago but it is very much an ongoing investigation.

“We are investigating a report that a property was broken into while the owners were out, set alight and a number of items, including jewellery, were stolen.

“The house was significantly damaged and a cat died as a result of the fire.

“I would ask anyone with information about this incident, however irrelevant you think it might be, to contact police as your information may be able to assist with our ongoing enquiries.”

Anyone who thinks they can help should contact DC Hemsley by calling 01474 366149 and quoting crime reference XY/041249/15.
