Police seize 36,000 illegal cigarettes in Gravesend

Police in Gravesend seized 36,000 illegal cigarettes after raiding a town centre premises selling counterfeit tobacco products.

The Gravesend town centre police team posted pictures and details on the haul on Twitter, after confiscating the cigarettes on Wednesday July 29.

Kent Police later confirmed a number of untaxed cigarettes had been seized from a shop in Windmill Street at around 2pm.

No arrests have been made, and police are working with Gravesham council as part of ongoing enquiries.

The town centre team appealed for further information on the issue to be reported to police on 101.
