Heavy rain has created dangerous road conditions this morning with flood patches and accidents

Heavy rain created dangerous road conditions across the county, with large flood patches and a high risk of aquaplaning.

The rain lasted throughout the morning, but is expected to clear this afternoon.

It caused severe delays on the roads, with the the M25 approaching the Dartford Crossing gridlocked back to Swanley, and the A2 London-bound static all the way back to the M2.

Both roads have since cleared.

There was also an accident on the M20 northbound, near to the junction with the M26, which was moved to the hard shoulder.

Maidstone town centre was also gridlocked, with flooding on Maidstone's one-way gyratory system causing delays for vehicles that managed to reach the town centre.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a crash on the coast bound carriageway of the A20 near Swanley just after 7am.

Crews were faced with a car on its side with a male driver trapped inside, around one mile before the Swanley Interchange.

Crews got the driver out and he was treated by paramedics at the scene.

There was flooding on Broadways outside discount store Matalan.

The M2 westbound was also heavily congested back to Doddington.
