Working from home to opening a store – lockdown has seen two women take the plunge in the face of uncertainty.
Olivia Meader and Heidi Wickham opened Glam Sqaud Beauty Salon in The Bay, Vigo Village on September 16 and things are already going from strength to strength.
Despite the impact of Covid-19, Olivia, 41, and Heidi, 40, took the risk and moved from operating out of Olivia's conservatory to their own professional salon.
It now boasts a team of seven employees, including four stylists, two beauty therapists and one massage therapist.
Last year, the business won best brow specialist at the National Hair and Beauty awards, was a finalist for Kent Women in Business and is a finalist for this year's Hair and Beauty Salon of the year.
Olivia said: "We are so excited and have lots of future plans for the salon.
"We have put blood, sweat and tears into opening it. We took a leap of faith transitioning from a home-based salon to a shop but we had such an incredible response to opening and we can't wait to watch it grow.
"We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us through our incredible journey. Heidi and I saw the opportunity and went for it with absolutely no regrets."
