In the moments before the attack, police say the victim is understood to have been socialising with friends at the swings in Waterton Park.

It is alleged they were approached by another boy, known to them, who started making verbal threats.

The victim and his friends walked away and left the park on to Waterton Avenue where police say they were threatened by two people in a silver Fiesta.

Police say the boy was struck by the vehicle as he walked away down the alleyway and was taken to hospital in London.

The car was then seen leaving the area towards Lower Range Road.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
