A snow globe, sparkling Father Christmas grotto and a good dose of celebs, are just some of the things people have to look forward to at this year’s Christmas lights switch on.

To kick off the festivities on Saturday (November 19) children from the Centre Stage Theatre Academy, which holds classes at the Woodville Halls in Woodville Place, Gravesend, and was founded by former Eastenders star Frankie Fitzgerald , will sing in the St George’s shopping centre in Kempthorne Street, Gravesend.

The snow dome and Santa’s grotto will then be unveiled in the centre.

From 1pm the music continues with performances at the King Street, New Road junction by the Stan Lee King Roadshow, former X Factor contestant Kim Southwick , and Hollyoaks star Tom Vaughan.

In the Old Town Hall in High Street, Gravesend, a vintage fair will take place between 11am and 4pm.

Then at 4.30pm in King Street, Gravesham’s mayor Cllr Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, along with the stars of this year’s Woodville Halls panto, will flick the switch to light up the town.
