Statue of The Queen in St Andrew's Gardens, Gravesend, vandalised

Graffiti has appeared on the base of a statue commemorating the long service of Queen Elizabeth II.

The vandalism was spotted and photographed by a passer-by this morning in St Andrew's Gardens in Gravesend.

The statue was commissioned by Gravesham Borough Council and unveiled in 2018 .

The figure was sculpted by Douglas Jennings and unveiled by the Rt Rev James Langstaff in his role as Bishop of Rochester.

Gravesham Borough Council and Kent Police have been contacted for comment.
